South Africa is one of the countries that have the best fashion designers like Marc Bouwer,Nkhensani Manganyi ,David Tlale  and many more, having this designers has helped us grow so much into fashion.
One of the things I like about mzansi fashion is that we have so many events that are taking place in terms of fashion, and this includes the Audi joburg, cape town, Durban, and the S.A fashion week to me this are not just fashion events but they are there to represent the south African taste in terms of clothing, it is true that we might not be yet be on the fashion league like big cities such as Condon, Paris, and other but it shows that we are getting there.

S.A fashion week

Let’s take a look at the south African fashion week that started ten years ago, and it started out as fashion marketing instrument that would raise fashion status not only as  an art form but also as means of cultural expression, and to see that they have made it so far shows that the culture of fashion is really growing in mzansi ,one thing I like about the south African fashion week and which I think is  one that keeps fashion growing on each events they host is their communication strategy,  since the S.A fashion week  started ten years ago it has managed to get more and more people interested in fashion, buy making use of the media and the social networks and this includes twitter ,Facebook , and they also include their website where people can  watch what happened on a certain event, they can see new upcoming designers, and also the designers can make use of the media and social networks that the S.A fashion week use to see which competitions they can enter and lastly one thing that I like about the  is that one is able to sign up for getting newsletters on their website www.safashionweek.co.za.
Well I believe that without such fashion events, we would not be where we are today in terms of fashion, and it is important that we have such fashion events that are able to interact with us as ordinary people and get us more involved in terms of fashion and it means we are able to show case our African expression as south Africans and we are proud to wear our own mzansi designs, because it’s sad to still see people wearing clothes from abroad while we have our own south African designers.

DOES MEDIA SET OUR WARDROBE

source:blogs.timeslive.co.za
does media set our wardrobe?well thats the question i always ask myself because we live in a world where by we are so exposed to the media ,very often we see adverts ,megazines like YOU and  drum megazines that always inlude a clothing section, complete fashion megazine that olny deals with fashion www.glomour.com\fshion\spring-2013-com  ,and even fashion events like the south african fashion week where new fashion trends are being exposed to us as viewers, well it does not only end there because we still find some radio programmes and t.v programmes that have topics on "what to wear this spring or this winter" ,metro fm is one of the radio  stations that mainly focuses on fashion trends because i sometimes listen to the azania show that starts from 9am to 10am on week days and you always find a fashion designer being called to advise and give poeple tips on what to wear or rather on what its in or out in terms of fashion and this also goes along with tips on how to use your makeup .

although we still find some websiets that helps peolple to dress acording their custom clothing www.spreadshit\custom-clothing .com,but i still think that media has more power on telling people how they should look.

TYPES OF FASHION TRENDS THAT ARE BROUGHT
AND CHANGED BY THE MEDIA

source: www.style-new.com
let's take fashion trends like colour blocking and vintage ,colour blocking was exposed through clothing adverts, megazines ,and on fashion events and you could find it on any store  that you could go to in 2011 but one could no longer wear that because of the agenda that has been set in the media to it as being "so 2011" ,then vintage came in and people had to move from colour blocking to vintage now this shows that media sets the agenda for us in terms of fashion although it does not directly tell us that "this is what you need to wear" but we all know that people tend to do things that are showen in the media.
